John Roberts, thirty-four, is a rich retired rock star and a decorated war veteran. His quiet life is spun around when the CIA informs him that his father has been in a Russian POW camp for the last twenty-two years. Naturally, John plans to be a part of the rescue team. His family and personal bodyguards think otherwise. Then everyones plans changed. The Russians admit to having Andrew Roberts and will trade for a Russian spy in an American prison. Just before the swap, the Russian spy dies of a heart attack. Keeping the secret, the plan goes ahead for the swap as John enters Russia to affect a rescue before the Russians catch on. That too hits a snag and John and his father end up as prisoners in KGB headquarters in St. Petersburg. They make a daring escape, and now the chase is on. On Johns team are Ira Corn, ex-CIA and master of dirty tricks, and Charles Lee, his step father and also ex-CIA. The Russian colonel has the resources of the FSB (replaced the KGB), the army, and the police. And hes angry. Decoys go north as John and Andy go south to Belarus to get new passports. That weasel turns on them and orders his men to kill the father and son. The body count mounts as the good guys have to kill cops that challenge one of the cover teams on the street. John and Andy are stopped by two militia, and the body count rises. Borders are blocked and a shoot-on-sight order is issued by the colonel. John and his father are trapped on an island at the Polish border and have to shoot their way out. John returns to the States to celebrate. Then Johns house is attacked by a tank and armored men. The family has to fight for their lives. Afterwards, Ira is able to follow the money back to the colonel. Ira sets up a plan to close that door.
