Catherine is a well-established antique dealer in a quaint shop in New York. Her orderly life is disrupted when she receives a chattel from an unknown English benefactor, willing her priceless antiques dating back to the 18th century. However, on her arrival, she soon learns the estate has a history of deceit and grief, which, if uncovered, will destroy centuries of supposedly authentic entailed lineages. Clues offered by a frequent nighttime visitor from the late 1700s helps the pieces of the puzzle become a clear picture.

Richard Frasier, a successful architect, is the newly acclaimed heir of the estate. Satisfied with his New York style of living, he resents the interruption to travel to England and claim the property that has been forced on him. However, a chain of mysterious events unwind that might prove the ancestry lineage ended long ago to release him from the chains of entailment.

Both Catherine and Richard work together to wade through the few clues provided by an apparition during nightly visits to Catherine to right a wrong that occurred over a century ago.
