This is the story of Derby Countys triumphant 1971-72 season at the end of which they were crowned champions of England for the first time. It was the Rams seventy-second in League football, forty-five of which had been played in the top flight and Brian Cloughs tiny squad of first team players had to finish above the likes of Don Revies formidable Leeds United and Bill Shanklys outstanding Liverpool side to win the title.
