In 1969, Jake Heller left his hometown to serve in Vietnam as an Army Ranger, leaving behind a turbulent childhhood marked by the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. Some say he traded one hell for another.

What he did and where he went after the war isn't clear to those who know him.  Now, fourteen years later, Jake has returned to Greensburg and works as a deputy for the Tyler County Sheriff's Department. On a day that started like all the rest, Jake is sent to investigate a seemingly, routine, dispute at a local trailer park. During his investigation, he uncovers something that changes everything and triggers a sequence of events that take him down a dark road paved with violence and the blood of dead men. As Jake walks this road, he struggles with an age-old question: can a man shape and forge his own destiny or is it predetermined and futile and ultimately not within his control.

Along the way, he's confronted with the fact that every town has secrets. The collective secrets and lies buried in shallow graves and soon discovers that, in Greensburg, even the truth may be a lie. Only one thing is for sure. Jake's back in town and has some scores to settle. The  question is, who's going to pay?
