Mr. Diggers, a chimney sweep, and Bruce, one of the town's drug addicts, lived by each other for four years now, under the bridge. Mr. Diggers always seemed to be dirty and stayed that way between jobs, and Bruce tried to keep himself clean whenever he was sober. Made sense to Heidi.
