Happiness is an emotion we all know…that signifies all is well and one is enjoying the times and moment. However, the truth is that, at some time, one might not be that free with others and as a result develops fear!

For the other word which is intelligence, it is mostly used in the academic field. The students who score high marks are thought to be intelligent. Yes, this can be defined as the capacity to have valid reasoning about any information.

The people, who have high intelligence have the power to gather information, disseminate it and come up with useful conclusions. Intelligence helps us to solve life problems, not only in class but in all aspects that need reasoning.

Having known the definitions of the two words, let’s now take a look at the actual meaning of emotional intelligence. There are many definitions found all over in the internet and books. Some are misleading while others are representing some truth. There are many definitions which are available.

Nevertheless, the first definition we shall consider right now is that emotional intelligence is the process of using emotions to come up with valid reasons about something. That is to say, it includes the ability for anyone to perceive emotions accurately, generate them and use them to assist in thinking and reasoning.

The second definition of emotional intelligence is that it is the ability to identify, understand, manage and use emotions in positive ways. The positive ways include such things like; communicating effectively, relieving stress, overcome challenges, defuse conflicts or empathize with others.

From this definition it is evident that we can use emotional intelligent virtually in every aspect of our lives. The third definition is about understanding emotions of others and that of one self so as to have healthy relationships.

First is self-management. Self-management will enable you to control feelings which are impulsive. It enables you to initiate something and commit to see the end of it. Also it involves adapting to changing environments and circumstances.

The second attribute is self-awareness. This attribute enables understanding of one’s self. You are able to know your weakness and strengths. When one knows about own emotions, it becomes easy to know your behaviors.

Well, the third is relationship management is the third attribute. It enables you to work well as a team player, influence others, inspire people, and communicate well and so on.

Then the last one, though not the least is social awareness. In life we don’t live in a vacuum but in the midst of others. Using this attribute, we are able to understand other people, know their needs, feel comfortable while we are with them and fit in any organization.
