Although the main purpose of this book is for the student to learn English grammar skills, the book also touches on life in Ghana, West Africa. It tells the student about the daily life of Ghanaians living a meager, yet productive life. In Ghana, we have qualified doctors and nurses working in hospitals; we have both male and female students in the medical field studying to be doctors, some of whom are now qualified and are working in the United States. We also have students in law, again, both men and women studying to be lawyers. A good many have graduated and are working abroad. The African-American student will benefit a great deal from this book in that the book encourages students to read about our ancestors. This connection to the past can enable students to see life differently and, perhaps, make a better life for themselves.
