We went on vacation to fix what was wrong between us, not make them worst. I didn't realize that the problem wasn't really us, it was her. Only her. How was I to know I married someone capable of such heinous things? She was so timid and shy when we met. Did she even know she was doing it?! Is this why she never really liked the outdoors? Even though she would tell me camping stories from when she was a child. The most important question I never asked and should have is: Why was she so animate to not go to the George Washington National Forest?
Anywhere else for vacation seemed fine with her, except there. It seemed like was forcing her to re-live something she wanted to forget. I should have listened to my gut feeling, especially after we got there. I should have packed up everything and went home instead of ignoring the dangers, including my lover showing up, hoping I could fix my marriage. How many of those people did she put in our food? How did I not make the connection? The forest was locked down and we were the only ones with fresh meat almost every day.
