For Dad and Mom

One of the salient features of “As-Saheefatus Sajjadiyyah,” is that it draws our attention towards the different facets of life, showing us how our actions affect our lives. The beautiful and meaningful duas of Imam Sajjad (as) spell out man’s divine duties in different circumstances.

As-Saheefatus Sajjadiyyah inspires social binding, motivates action, provides comfort and is enlightening and reforming. The outcome of this training institution of Imam Zaynul Aabideen is a worshipper, who establishes contact with his Creator in the darkness of night, a responsible citizen, a well-wisher and a knowledgeable, kind and contented being. That is why we find prayers titled “Seeking Protection from Allah”, “Seeking Forgiveness”, “Prayer for One’s Neighbors and Friends”,“Prayer for One’s Child” and “Prayer for Parents” in this collection.

The current title “For Mom and Dad” is based on the twenty-fourth dua of“As-Saheefatus Sajjadiyyah.” In this dua, Imam as-Sajjad (as) teaches us, in a very logical manner, using analogies and examples, the relationship between a child and his parents. He lists the responsibilities of a child towards his Mom and Dad, two great blessings from Allah.
