In the 1860s an immigrant from Holland, James Quirinus Cornelius van den Bosch, was the first to identify the silver ore that was to make central Nevada famous. He was a member of the team that made the first discovery of rich silver ore there. In addition, he perfected the technique that made that unique type of ore millable.
