In May of 1991, I started my career in law enforcement. When I would call my parents to tell them how my week had gone, my dad didn't have any problems listening to my tales of foot pursuits through the yards chasing armed suspects or the last homicide scene I was at. My mom, not so much so. To her I would tell the funny and sometimes crazy stuff that happened during the course of my shift and for years, she encouraged me to write those stories down.
