Puppies, puppies everywhere! Sandy, my brother John’s blue and brown-eyed Siberian husky has given birth to five gorgeous pups. This is my Dad’s future dog team. They are beautiful blue-eyed Siberian Huskies. The runt of the litter is called Shorty; he is an exact duplicate of his father, our wheel dog named Tippy.

Tippy is classic black with white accents and the startling blue eyes that are a trademark of the Siberian husky. Tippy is the perfect wheel dog. He is slightly smaller than our other dogs, which allows him to be positioned closest to the carryall. As a bonus he absolutely hates all dogs, this motivates him to dig in and pull. In his position closest to the sleigh, his full view for the day is the furry backsides of all of the other dogs in the team, and he wants a piece of them all.

He has a bit of the “little” dog syndrome. I swear I can hear him muttering, he snarls and growls under his breathe continually…it sounds like “yeah, just wait, one day my traces will break and I’ll have a chunk of your ass, ya’ think a little thing like leather straps is goin’ keep me from you, just wait, I’ll get ya’, I’ll get ya’. “ He comes back off of a run more worn out from his temper and the “carrot” running in front of his eyes and inches away from his snout, than the actual physical labour of being the wheel dog. Sandy is his sweetheart and the exception to his rule.
