Deep inside the Caribbean there is a chain of remote islands called the Family Islands. These lie far from civilization and are poorly developed, but they are known for their legendary folktales and mysterious disappearances. Once a popular tourist destination boasting thousands of visitors annually, they now barely see any outsiders at all.
A group of tourists were on a fishing trip in waters near the Family Islands when their fishing vessel capsized in a terrible storm, causing them to be shipwrecked on one of the remotest of these islands, Lusca Island. The small, friendly population of the island came to their rescue, giving them food and shelter. Without telephones, computers, or any other form of communication, the shipwrecked crew had to wait until the weekly barge returned to take them back to the mainland.
On this particular island, the natives were very superstitious and respected their land. They used age-old traditions to ward off evil spirits and keep themselves safe from the evil that frequented their land.

It was now up to the tourists to follow the local traditions and respect the sacred land if they wanted to survive. These traditions and rituals had been passed down for generations and had kept the natives safe for decades.
The island called Lusca Island is one that few people have dared to visit. Legend has it that Blackbeard’s gold is buried on the island but that mysterious evil spirits that roam the island protect the gold from greedy travelers. Anyone who dares to go near the forbidden treasure faces certain death.
The inhabitants of Lusca Island keep peace with the evil spirits through offering sacrifices of personal possessions in exchange for protection from the evil forces. Angering the spirits of Lusca Island is forbidden and those that dare defy the traditions of the island are cast away like lepers for all eternity.
