Gardiner is the only existent biography of Martha Wing Robinson (1874-1936), a relatively unknown woman from the Mid-West who was healed of several severe maladies under the ministry of John Alexander Dowie, and was then led by God into the Pentecostal outpouring in 1906. Gordon P. Gardiner spent over 20 years writing this detailed account of Martha Wing Robinson’s life, drawing from personal remembrances as a boy and young man in Illinois, as well as numerous interviews with Martha Wing Robinson’s closest associates, sheaves of correspondence, and notes and dictations of her talks. It pays special attention given to her writings and talks after her tremendous experience in 1907, right up to her death in 1936.
