SUDEP is the acronym for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. The Author's wife died suddenly as a result of Epilepsy. They were both aware of the risk of sudden death, having been so advised. When the Author attended a Seminar about SUDEP he was astounded to find that the risk is being concealed by Medical Personnel. He wrote this article which was first published in Epilepsy News (Spring Edition) 2012.

In the Article the author examines the reluctance to outline the risk of sudden death to Epilepsy sufferers, quotes some sobering statistics and presents recommendations gleaned from enquiries into inquests as to the proper methods of communicating the risk of sudden death to persons with Epilepsy and their parents or guardians.
