The Beginning Years

Life for Marie and her siblings was not necessarily complicated, but they each struggled every day to make sense of their existence and what role they must play when dealing with an abusive father and submissive mother.  Each decision they made in their tender years had a profound effect on their lives that could determine whether they lived or died.

Marie escaped daily life throughout her childhood by dreaming of pleasant ways she would change her life once she grew up.  Waiting all those years until she could leave home and begin to live a decent life was arduous at best.  She realized that it was not going to be easy, but there was no way she could rush growing up.

As the years progressed, Marie had many life-learning experiences, some more painful than others.  Will there ever be unexpected rewards?
