Edwin Sidney Hartland (1848–1927) was a british author specialized on folklore. He is known for tales anthologies and collection, works on mythology, ethnology and anthropology. He belived in scientific picture of beliefs and traditions, that could be composed through through the gathering end exploring folklore.
The Ghost of Rosewarne is folk tale collected by Edwin Hartland. The narrative revolves around Ezekiel Grosse, a lawer. With no ill intention he purchased fro De Rosewarne family some lands. The motive of selling was that the De Rosewarnes could no longer afford keep the dignity and pride of the family. Grosse, however, had no such problem and lived there in peace.
