One by one, the people in the dusty, antiquated room stood up and clapped. The young man felt himself blushing. Once the clapping died down, Hinjo asked, “Sorry, what is it you all expect me to do?”
The man who had introduced himself as Halba grinned from ear to ear. An irrepressible happiness overcame him. He exclaimed, “Why, that's simple! All you have to do is speak with two young children and a middle-aged man, who is their guardian. They are on their way here. Just wait, and they should arrive in time.”
The young man asked, “What's so special about these three people?”
Tsumetai placed a hand on his shoulder. Once again, her touch felt cold to his skin. He brushed off her hand before she said, “The man is not very special. He's rather ordinary, in fact. The two children, however, they are far more special than they themselves realize. I doubt if they yet understand what may happen on the fourteenth day.”
