John discovers what it is like not to be able to trust anyone, and he learns that loyalty is hard to find. In a world and a society where the formal giving of allegiance should mean everything but in practice is frequently disregarded and friends and foes often change places, John struggles to keep faith with his father's dream of united dominions ruled by one man.

This historical novel is the final volume in the trilogy 'John Plantagenet'.
