John Collins was born with the proverbial silver spoon. He was trained and coached from birth to take over the company business but while in college something happened. John Collins, II, heard the call. He veered from the path chosen for him and joined the Army as an officer. That got him disowned by his father but not his grandfather.

The old man made sure that John would have his share of the money generated by the giant company. The old man went as far as holding stock in trust for John.

John served as a Military Police officer then opted to go into civilian law enforcement. He kept his nose clean and finally made detective and this is where we join the story.

The Zone is a place within the city where "adult" business are conducted and some not at all legal.

The Free-fire Zone is controlled by one man. Marcus Jones. Mister Jones runs the Zone with an iron fists but he made the mistake of challenging Detective John Collins.

The Zone is a character study and there are many characters to study. The new precinct captain, Molly McGuire, Detectives Zoe Parker, Lisa Green, Anna Ramirez, Tony Bello, and Kirk just to name a few.

As a skittish and confirmed bachelor, John Collins was shocked at how hard he fell when he met the lovely Megan King, a detective with another precinct. The concept of love wasn't new to him but the actual emotion was. John Collins fell in love and that is where his story actually begins.
