We had a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do something crazy, so...We decided to sell everything in California, leave behind Silicon Valley and the University of California and move overseas to a small, isolated valley where time seems to stand still. We bought and reconstructed a ruined farmhouse, but rebuilding a farmhouse is only a small part of the bigger picture.
