This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Holiness are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the book of Romans. They are: What is wrong with the tongue?; Pathway to sanctification; Sin, the flesh and the Spirit and Armour of light.
Excerpts:
What is wrong with the tongue?
“The devil poisoned the relationship between Eve and God, sowing the seed of distrust. And one of the things that God hates is a lying tongue and the one who sows division among brethren.”
Pathway to sanctification
“But that does not take away from the vitality of walking the right walk. Jesus said that it is not him who calls him lord, but those who do the will of his father, that he takes serious (Matthew 7:21). This means the confession can be divorced from life action. John wanted to clear the air and was very bold to say, it is the one who acts right that is righteous (1John 3:7).”
Sin, the flesh and the Spirit
“But that does not take away from the vitality of walking the right walk. Jesus said that it is not him who calls him lord, but those who do the will of his father, that he takes serious (Matthew 7:21). This means the confession can be divorced from life action. John wanted to clear the air and was very bold to say, it is the one who acts right that is righteous (1John 3:7).”
Armour of light
“The word is our light. A psalmist said: your word is a light to my feet and a lamp to my path (Psalm 119:105). If we will do the will of God, it is because we have embraced the light. And if we do not do the will of God, we are not walking in the light, regardless of anything else that we do. The Pharisees were said to have rejected the will of God for them having disregarded the ministry of John the Baptist, though they were full of religious observance in their time (Luke 20:1-8).”
