John Stone receives a mysterious parcel in the post containing a collection of crystals, which transform his existence and his very identity. Through the dark smoky crystal, he is transported to a parallel world, where he has not only a crystal wand with extraordinary powers, but a quest to use it in his new role as Wandmaster, which brings him into contact with his sworn protectors, the Guardians, and one in particular, the feisty Jazlyn. Sworn protectors, against the terrible Akryd, creation of Ataxios, the bringer of darkness and disorder, who threatens to destroy the crystal. The Wandmaster is called on to adopt a new and sudden reality and face his own mortality, striving to stay alive in a hostile environment bent on his destruction. Should John Stone fail, it will mean the end of his life, in both worlds.
